India crush Bangladesh, qualify for U19 World Cup semi-final
COOLIDGE: India secured a comfortable victory over Bangladesh in the ICC Under 19 World Cup quarterfinal; defeating the latter by five wickets, here on Saturday.
Set to chase 112, India sealed a comfortable victory in the end by five wickets, with 115 balls to spare. Despite a poor start, Raghuvanshi and Shaik Rasheed anchored the run chase with an astonishing 70-runs partnership for the second wicket.
Rasheed scored 26, while Raghuvanshi top-scored with his 44 off 65 balls; smashing seven boundaries. The captain Yash Dhull down the order showed grit and guided the side to the victory in the 31st over after a brief middle-order collapse. He remained not out with his 20.
For Bangladesh, Ripon Mondol starred; bagging four wickets, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib made one scalp.
Batting first, Bangladesh’s batting line-up failed completely and could only manage to score 111. SM Meherob fought hard with his 30, while the rest of the batters seemed hapless against the strong Indian bowling attack. Eight Tiger batters could not even manage to reach into the double-figures.
For India, Ravi Kumar bagged three wickets, while Vicky Ostwal took two. Kaushal Tambe, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, and Rajvardhan Hangargekar, on the other hand, struck out a batter each.
