Diana Baig takes four wickets as Blasters beat Challengers

KARACHI: Diana Baig starred with impressive bowling figures of 4-20 and propelled Blasters beat Challengers on Thursday at the State Bank Ground here. Challengers, after opting to bat, were bowled out for 117 in 40 overs and Blasters chased down the target in 35.3 overs with six wickets in hand. Openers Javeria Khan (37 off 55) and Javeria Rauf (20 off 49) stitched 56 runs for the first wicket for Challengers, but Diana Baig-inspired Blasters fought back and sent half of the opposition’s batting back in the pavilion with only 88 runs on board. Challengers slipped from 75 for one to 88 for five – losing four wickets for only 13 runs – as Ayesha Bilal and Ayesha Zafar returned three for 25 and two for 16. Pakistan to face Japan, Palestine and Bahrain in U23 Asian Cup Qualifiers

Pakistan are placed in Group D with Japan, and Palestine and hosts Bahrain for the qualifiers of the AFC under-23 Asian Cup 2024 in Qatar.  A total of 43 teams, divided into ten groups of four and one group of three, will play the Qualifiers, scheduled from September 4 to 12 later this year. The official draw was held at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday. VALLADOLID: Home side Valladolid pulled off an incredible 3-1 victory over champions Barcelona to bolster their La Liga survival hopes on Tuesday. The hosts put on a dominant show in their victory over the La Liga champions and climbed to 17th, moving provisionally three points clear of the relegation zone. Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen opened the scoring for Valladolid as he scored an own goal while heading into his own net in the second minute. LAHORE: Former Manchester United youngster and Grimsby Town attacking midfielder Otis Khan is all set to represent the Pakistan men’s football team in the upcoming international events, the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) confirmed on Tuesday. Otis Khan played a pivotal role for the Mariners to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals this season and is likely to be available for Pakistan in the friendly competition in Mauritius and the ensuing South Asian Football Federation Championship (SAFF). He began his career playing youth football at Manchester United before making the switch to professional football with Sheffield United.
