LONDON: Pakistan ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has started bowling amid his rehabilitation here for a knee injury. Shaheen, who has been in the UK for the rehabilitation of his knee injury, which he sustained during the Green Shirts’ first Test against Sri Lanka, has now started bowling. PHF clears dues of national players after six months

LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) cleared the debts of national players after six months, newly-elected president Khalid Sajjad Khokhar announced on Saturday. The national hockey players received much-anticipated news as the federation cleared their daily allowance debts after a six-month-long delay. The PHF deposited more than one and a half crore rupees to the accounts of more than 30 players, according to the details. “The players were not paid their daily allowance for six months. Pakistan Hockey Federation has paid the dues of all the players,” said Khokhar. It is pertinent to mention here that Khokhar was elected unopposed for a four-year term in the PHF elections held in August this year, along with Haider Hussain as secretary and Shahid Pervaiz Bhandara as finance secretary. Babar goes past Inzamam by scoring most centuries as Pakistan captain

KARACHI: Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar added one more jewel to his crown as he surpassed legendary batter Inzamam ul Haq for scoring the most number of centuries as the national team captain. The skipper achieved the feat during the second T20I against England on Thursday, when he blasted a phenomenal ton to guide the Green Shirts to a clinical 10-wicket win. The astounding century marked the skipper’s 10th century across all formats while captaining the national side. He broke the previous record of nine centuries made by Inzamam. Babar registered the achievement in his 84th inning while Inzamam scored nine centuries in 131 innings, he played as Pakistan captain. KARACHI: Pakistan’s wrestler Ali Asad, who bagged a bronze medal in the recently-held Commonwealth Games 2022, returned a positive dope test result. According to the details, Ali had undergone a dope sample test before departing for the Games, which returned positive. The national wrestler later completed a second drug test during the Games, which also resulted in a positive result. Ali then requested a Sample B test after his Sample A test returned positive, but that too produced the same result. Ali will now get an opportunity to appear before the inquiry committee and give his stand. Details further suggest that the wrestler may face up to four years of the ban if found guilty of using performance-enhancing drugs.
