LONDON: Eddie Nketiah boosted Arsenal’s bid for a top-four finish in the Premier League as the striker’s double inspired a dramatic 4-2 win against Chelsea on Wednesday. SHEFFIELD: The Scottish Snooker player John Higgins secured a hard-fought first-round victory as the fifth-ranked cueist edged past the 53rd-ranked Thepchaiya Un-Nooh to book his spot in the last 16 of the ongoing World Snooker Championship. The four-time world champion Higgins had to fight hard to claim the first-round victory as he defeated Un-Nooh by 10-7 in the Best of 19. LONDON: Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan has been named as the Leading T20 Cricketer in the World in 2021 by Wisden Almanack, here on Thursday. Rizwan, who enjoyed an exceptional run in the T20Is in 2021, has been named the Leading T20 Cricketer in the World in 2021 by one of the most prolific cricketing magazines – Wisden. The right-handed batter scored a mammoth 1,326 runs at an average of 73.66 including one century – breaking the calendar record, set by Ireland’s Paul Stirling in 2019, by almost 600. Pakistan’s Table Tennis players get sponsor for South Asian Championship

KARACHI: Pakistan’s Table Tennis players, who are set to participate in the upcoming South Asian Junior & Cadet Table Tennis Championship, have gotten sponsors for travelling expenses. The selected players, who were previously told by the Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) have gotten a sponsor as Meiji Pakistan will now bear the travelling expenses of three players. Previously, the PTTF revealed that the federation requested the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) to grant NOC and provision of funds, which, however, was not released by the PSB. Following this PTTF directed the officials and the players to arrange their tickets by themselves. However, vowed to reimburse the amount once PSB releases the funds. It is pertinent to mention here that the upcoming South Asian Junior & Cadet Table Tennis Championship will be held from May 9 to May 11, in the Maldives.
