Trophy for Pakistan-Sri Lanka Women’s ODI series unveiled

KARACHI: The trophy of the upcoming ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka Women, has been unveiled, here at Southend Club on Tuesday. The trophy for the ODI series was revealed by Pakistani skipper Bismah Maroof and her Sri Lankan counterpart Chamari Athapaththu. The two captains posed with the glittering trophy of the ODI series, which will be a part of the ICC Women’s Championship. Earlier, both teams held practice sessions for the first ODI; scheduled for June 1. Players from both teams participated in batting, bowling, and fielding drills. The second and third ODI of the all-important series will be played on June 3 and 5 respectively. The two sides have come face to face in 30 ODIs so far with Sri Lanka winning 21 of them. MASHHAD: Pakistani sprinter Shajar Abbas bagged a gold medal in the 200m race category while Muhammad Yasir claimed the medal in the javelin to take Pakistan’s tally to five in the ongoing Imam Reza International Athletics Tournament. The 200m race category in the tournament, was majorly dominated by the Pakistani athletes as Shajar and Abdul Mueed Baloch claimed the gold and bronze medal respectively. PCB shifts Pakistan-West Indies ODI series to Multan

LAHORE: Pakistan’s home ODI series against the West Indies has been shifted to Multan following the possible political instability in Rawalpindi, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed. In an official statement released by the PCB, the cricket board confirmed that the three ODIs, which are part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League will be played on the previously announced dates i.e. 8, 10 and 12 June, with the matches starting at 4 PM PKT time. KARACHI: Renowned mountaineer Ali Raza Sadpara, who fell from a cliff during his routine drill last week, has died at the age of 66. Ali Raza was injured after falling from a mountain and has been undergoing treatment at Regional Hospital Skardu for the past week. Ali Raza, got his ribs and spine broken after falling from the cliff and into a ditch during his routine drill, last week. He remained under treatment for around 10 days but could not survive. It is pertinent to mention here that Ali Raza climbed mountains over 7,000 meters 17 times, including four peaks above 8,000 meters during his prolonged career that spanned over 36 years. Keeping the current political situation in view, the PCB has decided to postpone the second phase of the ongoing Conditioning Camp of the national cricketers.
