Babar Azam named Karachi Kings’ captain for PSL 7

KARACHI: World number 1 T20I batter Babar Azam has been named as the captain of Karachi Kings on Tuesday for the upcoming seventh season of Pakistan Super League (PSL). According to franchise, their owner Mr Salman Iqbal acknowledged the leadership skills of Babar and handed him the responsibility. “Babar will now take Kings to the heights,” Kings’ owner said. “He has been a part of Kings for six years and heart of this franchise,” he added. Kings’ newly appointed skipper thanked Kings’ management for the opportunity and said he likes to enjoy the responsibilities given. “Kings and Salman trusted me and gave me the opportunity to lead, I will strive for 100% performance and I always enjoy taking responsibility.”, he said. Pakistan beat USA by 18-2 in Junior Hockey World Cup’s ranking match

BHUBANESWAR: Pakistan defeated the United States by a score of 18-2 in a ranking match of the Junior Hockey World Cup here on Tuesday.  Pakistan competed for the 9th to 16th position match against the USA in order to improve their event’s ranking. Pakistan launched an attack on the USA from the start with Abu Zar scoring the game’s first goal in the 14th minute. Soon after, Rizwan scored his first goal of the game in the 20th minute and the Green shirts kept the momentum going, pushing the opposition back and scoring 18 goals. Waheed, the captain, was the team’s standout performer, scoring four goals, including a hat-trick. Abu Zar also scored hat-trick. Rizwan, on the other hand, scored two goals for Pakistan. Seniors including Malik, Sarfaraz, Imad may rest in home series

LAHORE: Senior players including Shoaib Malik, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Imad Wasim, and Mohammad Hafeez may be rested during the home T20I series against West Indies next month.  According to sources, Malik, Sarfaraz, Imad, and Hafeez may be given rest during the upcoming series against West Indies. Pakistan is expected to announce the T20I squad within two days. The announced players will gather in Karachi on December 9. The ODI squad will be announced closer to the time. Mohammad Hasnain is likely to be included in the 50-overs format squad. The two teams will play three T20Is and as many ODIs, starting from December 13 at National Stadium, Karachi. ‘I have zero support from the government’ WBC World Champion, Waseem

KARACHI: Pakistani professional boxer Mohammad Waseem lamented no support from the government despite being the world boxing champion twice.  Waseem, who recently became WBC Silver World Champion, said the government has been failed to recognize his achievements at a higher level. “I have zero support from the government. I have achieved a lot for my country but I received no major recognization at the government level,” the national boxer said. “Our country has immense talent but there are very few opportunities for them. Our boxing has the potential to achieve so much at the international level. If the government pays attention, our talent can do wonders,” he maintained. PCB chairman satisfied with Pakistan’s performance in Test against Bangladesh

CHATTOGRAM: Abid Ali and Abdullah Shafique continued their superb form on Day 5 and it helped Pakistan notch an eight-wicket victory against Bangladesh in the opening Test here on Tuesday.  Resuming the last day at 93-0, Abid and Abdullah added 58 more runs together to set Pakistan closer to the victory line. Hasan Miraz picked up Abdullah but it was too late for the home side for causing any destruction. Debutant Abdullah scored 73 runs off 129 balls including eight boundaries and a maximum before getting LBW. His opening partner Abid got out after scoring 93 runs laced with 12 boundaries. Azhar Ali (24*) and skipper Babar Azam (13*) scored match-winning runs for Pakistan as they both partnered together to score 31 runs. Tajiul Islam and Miraz bagged a wicket each for Bangladesh.
